Naraya is a sweet shop located in
a quaint old wooden building in the Town of Shiokawa. Our shop is
not far from the famous Aganogawa River. Naraya has been doing business
for years in Shiokawa, which is a town well known for its' special
Norens. (A Noren is a type of Japanese curtain/sign which is hung
in the doorways of many shops etc.) One of our specialties is a
hot drink called "Koko no he."
This beverage is made from an old
recipe which uses a spice derived from the fruit citron. The process
to prepare this drink is quite simple. First you add three tea spoons
of the spice to a cup of hot water, stir the mixture and then let
it sit for two minutes. The sweet aroma of this hot beverage adds
to its' enjoyable taste.
