Location of Aizu-wakamatsu
Fukushima prefecture is divided vertically into three regions by Abukuma high ground's two mountain ridges, and Aizu is the region on the west side, with Naka-doori and Hama-doori being the other two regions. The Aizu basin is surrounded by the Ohu mountain range to the East, the Mount Iimori-yama to the North, Koshigoe mountain range to the West and Shimono mountain range to the South. And in the center of the Aizu basin is the town of Aizu-wakamatsu.
